We primarily sell whole pigs (half pigs are also available as long as there is a home for the other half). The cost varies considerably depending on the size of the pig (see an example cost break-down below). Pigs are slaughtered on the farm and butchered at Stratton's Custom Meats in Hoosick Falls, NY.
Whole pigs for sale are generally Guinea Hog crosses, but other options may occasionally be available, as well.
*HANGING WEIGHT -- the weight of the pig AFTER slaughter
(vs. LIVE WEIGHT -- the weight of the pig at slaughter)

There's no better way to say "Thank You," "Merry Christmas," "Happy Birthday," or "Happy Groundhog Day" than with a little package of pork for your loved ones! Just give us a price range that you're interested in (and also let us know if the gift recipient likes a good meat challenge or not) and we'll give you a couple bundle options to choose from. If you're interested in including a few recipes with your gift, we'd be happy to put some together for you.
In addition to raising pigs for meat, Kyer Farm also has several lovely sows who produce litters of piglets throughout the year. The sows are of mixed breeds-- mainly combinations of Yorkshire, Berkshire, and Tamworth-- and they are bred with either one of the two boars on the farm: a Hereford named Lord Twinings, or Kingsley, a Guinea Hog. The sows are tough moms who farrow outdoors either in the open or in the limited protection of a shelter. The piglets are sold at 8 weeks and are generally trained to a two-wire electric fence. If you are interested in purchasing piglets, please be in touch with us and we can discuss when the next litter will be available and what will be the breeding of these piglets. The cost for a piglet is $120.
For those of you without that extra chest-freezer, we sell cuts, too! If we're sold out of the cut you're looking for, we can add you to the waitlist and you will be the first to receive it when it's next available. All cuts are vacuum-sealed and frozen. Please keep in mind that roasts generally come in a 2-4 lb. range (and sometimes larger).
Please note that home delivery of pork may be available on a case-by-case basis. Depending on the distance from the farm, an additional fee may be applied. We also welcome you to pick up your pork on the farm-- we'd love to introduce you to the pigs!
